I’m Marcus (39), a Dutch photographer on a mission.

Together with my lovely wife, we have been traveling around the world for over 12 years, and have been traveling full-time since 2020. The world is such a beautiful place, and my mission is to showcase that through photography.

I was lucky to have sold my previous company (one of the biggest men’s online magazines in the Netherlands), so that I could go all-in on my true passion and fulfill my ikigai; culture and travel photography.

My focus is documenting humanity, capturing culture, and telling fascinating stories. My photographs distinguish me from others because I capture unique, one-time moments that cannot be replicated. I always ensure that the subject, moment, and light are as unique as possible, making it a truly magical, one-of-a-kind moment captured forever.

My curiosity is my superpower. I'm deeply fascinated with how people live their lives, what moves them, and how they get things done in their own unique ways. Traveling the world and photographing culture and the most stunning places on Earth has been exhilarating and I will continue this journey for many years to come.

Origin of the name Marcus Musashi

  • As a world traveler, I have noticed that international names are quite common. The pronunciation of my Dutch name has been deemed impossible, therefore I have taken an international name that works as a solid brandname as well.

  • The name Marcus Musashi is a combination of my two favorite philosophers: Marcus Aurelius and Miyamoto Musashi. The wise Stoic emperor and the iconic Ronin samurai. Their books, Meditations and The Book of Five Rings, influenced me immensely.
